Jason Bourgoyne

Director of Operations

Jason Bourgoyne oversees the operations and event services departments and has been with the Knoxville Convention Center since November of 2001. He oversaw the transformation of the Convention Center from a construction site to an operational facility.

From 2010 to 2012, Bourgoyne oversaw the building upgrades for energy efficiency, which included projects for two separate solar arrays, lighting, boiler replacement and HVAC upgrades. In 2013, the center received LEED Silver certification for Existing Buildings from the U.S. Green Building Council, a project Bourgoyne oversaw and implemented.

He began his career in 1988 as a member of the conversion crew at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The PMAC is a 15,000-seat arena located on the campus of Louisiana State University. Bourgoyne quickly rose through the ranks and was promoted to steward by 1994. In 1996, SMG hired him as superintendent of operations and in 2000, he was promoted to operations manager for the Riverside Centroplex in Baton Rouge, La., now known as the Baton Rouge River Center. The multi-complex facility has an arena, exhibition hall, theater and meeting rooms.

Bourgoyne has been a member of the Buildings Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Greater Knoxville since 2004 and has served on the board since 2005. He was president of the association in 2008 and 2012.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Louisiana State University.

Bourgoyne and his wife of 13 years, Faith, have three young children, Zoie, Beau and Tate, and are active members of First Baptist Church of Concord. The Bourgoynes are supporters of Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, Goodwill Industries, Knox Area Rescue Ministries and Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

I have lived in Knoxville since November of 2001.

I enjoy golf, fishing and sports with my kids.

Knoxville offers a culture that allows you and your family to be yourselves. This community is kindhearted and welcoming to everyone.

What is your favorite part about working at the Knoxville Convention Center?

Never boring! It is a new adventure with every group. I especially enjoy the groups that seek assistance with the creativity of the event.
