Chef Jonathan B. Frye is responsible for daily kitchen operations including ordering, managing inventory, and overseeing food quality. Chef Frye came to the convention center from Dollywood where he was the park Chef for 6 years.  There, worked in multiple restaurants within the facility as well as Dolly’s DreamMore Resort. Chef Frye has experience in kitchens of all sizes– from Holiday Inn in Pigeon Forge to a small pub in Sevierville. He received his Associates Degree from Walters State C.C. and has  15 years of experience in the culinary field. He is ServSafe certified and has done extensive research on allergens in foods and meeting special dietary needs. Aside from his culinary passion, what truly drives Chef Frye is his family. He is father to 2 children, Noble and Kalisee, and husband to his wife Sarah. Chef Frye chose this career path because it lends him the opportunity to showcase creativity and excitement in a manner that can be enjoyed through all the senses.

How long have you lived in Knoxville?

I have lived in and around Knoxville my whole life.

What is your favorite activity to do in Knoxville?

I enjoy the Market Square area, sampling all the restaurants. I am also a HUGE Vol fan.

What is your favorite location in Knoxville?

Personally I would have to say my parent’s house because I have so many great memories there. Other than that, I love the Tennessee Theater. It is a beautiful and historic building, and my church used to perform many Christmas programs there.  I  always enjoyed being in that building.

What do you think sets Knoxville apart as a great city to visit?

I think Knoxville has unmatched feeling of community, if you are from here there is a great sense of pride in that fact.

What is your favorite part about working at the Knoxville Convention Center?

I love that it gets me involved in the community and puts me right in the center of the city. I also love to cook and the food we make here is just out of this world!
